Daddy's Day

Daddy's Day

Her hair up in a pony tail, her favorite dress tied with a bow

Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she couldn't wait to go.

But her mommy tried to tell her, that she probably should stay home

Why the kids might not understand,if she went to school alone.

But she was not afraid;she knew just what to say

What to tell her classmates,on this Daddy's Day.

But still her mother worried, for her to face this day alone

And that was why once again, she tried to keep her daughter home.

But the little girl went to school, eager to tell them all

About a dad she never sees,a dad who never calls.

There were daddies along the wall in back, for everyone to meet

Children squirming impatiently, anxious in their seats.

One by one the teacher called,a student from the class

To introduce their daddy,as seconds slowly passed.

At last the teacher called her name, every child turned to stare

Each of them were searching, for a man who wasn't there.

"Where's her daddy at?"she heard a boy callout

"She probably doesn't have one," another student dared to shout.

And from somewhere near the back, she heard a daddy say

"Looks like another deadbeat dad,too busy to waste his day.

" The words did not offend her,as she smiled at her friends

And looked back at her teacher, who told her to begin.

And with hands behind her back, slowly she began to speak

And out from the mouth of a child, came words incredibly unique.

"My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away

But I know he wisheshe could be with me on this day.

And though you cannot meet him,I wanted you to know

All about my daddy, and how much he loves me so.

He loved to tell me stories,he taught me to ride my bike

He surprised me with pink roses, and taught me to fly a kite.

We used to share fudge sundaes and ice cream in a cone

And though you cannot see him,I'm not standing all alone.

'Cause my daddy's always with me,even though we are apartI know because he told me, he'll forever be here in my heart.

" With that her little hand reached up,and lay across her chestFeeling her own heartbeat, beneath her favorite dress.

From somewhere in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears

Proudly watching her daughter, who was wise beyond her years.

She stood up for the loveof a man not in her life

Doing what was best for her, doing what was right.

When she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd

She finished with a voice so soft, but its message clear and loud.

"I love my daddy very much,he's my shining star

If he could he'd be here, but heaven's just too far.

Sometimes when I close my eyes,it's like he never went away.

"Then she closed her eyes, and saw him there that day.

To her mother's amazement, she witnessed with surprise

A room full of daddies and children, all starting to close their eyes.

Who knows what they saw before them, who knows what they felt insidePerhaps for a second, they saw him at her side.

"I know you're with me Daddy," to the silence she called out

What happened next made believers,of those once filled with doubt.

No one in that room could explain it,for each of their eyes had been closed

But there placed on her desktop, was a beautiful fragrant pink rose.

A child was blessed, if only a moment,by the love of her shining bright star.

And given the gift of believing, that heaven is never too FAR.

When My Father Talks

When My Father Talks

Sometimes when we go out for walks,

I listen while my father talks.

The thing he talks of most of all

Is how it was when he was small

And he went walking with his dad

And conversations that they had

About his father and the talks

They had when they went out for walks.

A Father

A Father

A father is a source of strength,

A teacher and a guide.

The one his family looks up to

With loving trust and pride...

A father is a helper

With a willing hand to lend,

A partner, an adviser,

And the finest kind of friend--

Dadd's Little Girl

Daddy's Little Girl

Little girl of mine with eyes of shining blue

Little girl of mine,

I love you, yes I do

No one else could be so sweet

You have made my life complete

You're the end of the rainbow, my pot o' gold

You're Daddy's little girl, to have and hold

A precious gem is what you are

You're Mommy's bright and shining star

You're the spirit of Christmas, my star on the tree

You're the Easter bunny to Mommy and me

You're sugar, you're spice, you're everything nice

And you're Daddy's little girl

You're the end of the rainbow, my pot o' gold

You're Daddy's little girl, to have and hold

A precious gem is what you are

You're Mommy's bright and shining star

You're the treasure I cherish, so sparkling and bright

You were touched by holy and beautiful light

Like angels that sing, a heavenly thing

And you're Daddy's little girl

My Dad's Hands

My Dad's Hands

My Dad's hands are strong

And they're big and they're tough

But when I need help

They're gentle enough.

My Dad's hands can teach me

To work and to give

And by their exampleI'll learn how to live.

Right now my hand's are small

And learning good from bad

Some day I hope my hands

Will be just like my Dad's!

Daddy Takes Place

Daddy Takes Me Places

Daddy takes me places

Where nobody else can -
He takes me into space
To touch the ceiling fan!
He lifts me oh-so-high
That Mom is far below.
I only have to point
To where I want to go!
As soon as my finger
Is waving in the air
My Daddy scoops me up,
And his arms take me there!
Daddy's arms are stronger
Than any daddy's are --
They carry me down the steps
Or place me in the car.
They take me to the light switch
So I can turn it off
Then Mom and Daddy both
Are standing in the dark!
I'm a bigger person
When Daddy is around
Once I'm up,
I never, neverWant to be put down!
I could live a lifetime
On my Daddy's shoulders!
But soon, I will grow up --
And I will get older --
Then I will be too big
For him to lift around.
I will reach the light switch
With both feet on the ground.
So let Daddy lift me
While I'm still a little man;
'Cause Daddy takes me places
Where nobody else can!!

"DON'T"

"DON’T...."

Don’t look at me with pity.

Don’t look with disgust.

Don’t think I am contagious.

Don’t look at my parents like they are to blame.

Don’t think my mom drank or took drugs.

Don’t think my dad hit her while I was in her tummy.

Don’t complain because your feet hurt from being on them all day...

I may never know that hurt.

Don’t moan because you are tired of walking all over your office.....

I may never get that chance.

Don’t get tired of talking on the phone

I may never get to speak.

Don’t get mad when your child is getting into everything when they start walking.....

My parents will cry for joy.

Don’t shush your child when they are talking too much.....

My mother will cry tears of happiness for that.

Don’t scold your child for kissing you too much when you are busy.....

My dad will hug me tight for that.

My parents will believe all of this is a true miracle.

I am not dead.

I am not dumb.

I am not nothing.

I feel.

I hurt.

I THINK.

I LOVE.

I am in this body!

I have rights!

Don’t pass me by & hang your head in sorrow....

Talk to me.

Touch me.

Love me.

But please.......Don’t

A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love

A Mother's Love is like an islandIn life's ocean vast and wide,A peaceful, quiet shelterFrom the restless, rising tide ...

A Mother's Love is like a fortressAnd we seek protection thereWhen the waves of tribulationSeem to drown us in despair ...

A Mother's Love's a sanctuaryWhere our souls can find sweet restFrom the struggle and the tensionOf life's fast and futile quest ...

A Mother's Love is like a towerRising far above the crowd,And her smile is like the sunshineBreaking through a threatening cloud ...

A Mother's Love is like a beaconBurning bright with Faith and Prayer,And through the changing scenes of lifeWe can find a Haven There ...

For A Mother's Love is fashionedAfter God's enduring love,It is endless and unfailingLike the love of Him above ...

For God knew in His great wisdomThat He couldn't be Everywhere,So He put His Little ChildrenIn a Loving Mother's Care.

I Do Talk To You

"I Do Talk To You"

I know you can’t hear me....but I do talk to you.

And I hear everything you say to me too.

I hear when you laugh, when I do something funny.

I hear you yell "Hooray" when I try so hard.

I hear you tell others how you’d never trade me for the world even with all the trials I came with.

I hear you thank God for what a blessing you have been given.

I hear you encourage me when I can almost do it.

I hear you cry, too, when it gets a little harder

And when you ask God "Why?!" your baby.

And I know you know I understand somehow.

And you know I listen when you talk to me too.

But, I want you to know, mom...........

I do talk to you.

To MOMS

To Moms

Mom,
you nurtured me for nine monthsMom,
you suffered a lot for me.
Mom, you are always there to advise me
On my daily problems.
Mom, you are the first word I spokeMom,
because that word means love.
Mom, from far away and from up close
You deserve to be praised.
Mom, each day should be your celebration
Since you play a major role in our creation.
Mom, nothing can replace you
Mom, how can I ever thank you
For all that you have given me.
Mom, it is an eternal debt
That I will carry into heaven.
Mom, on this day that is yours
I can only bow my headhumbly,
piously in order to say...

Thank You MOM

Thank You, Mom

You brought me into this world with so much love.I thank God everyday from the Heavens above.
You taught me what was right and what was wrong. And most importantly you gave me the will to be strong.

You never gave up on me when the word "parenting" got tough. And you always knew when to say "Now that's enough!!"
You are always there to pick me up when I fall. And there to help me through it all.

You always supported me in the decisions I made. And weighed the outcomes so I wouldn't end up in the shade.
You've let me do things no other Mom would do.And that's why I think you're beyond "cool."

You're a one of a kind and God broke the mold. And no matter how many years go by you will never be old.
When I'd question myself you still believed in me.And to look beyond the mirror was what you helped me see.

Even though there have been spats and fights. We'd always over come them and helped to see the gleam of light.
You mean the world to me and if I had to do it again.I'd definitely choose you as my Mom and also my best friend.

I Love you Mom,

A Parent's Love

A Parent's Love

Time to get up, it's 3am,
Another bottle, change that diaper again
Sing sweet tunes to soothe your ear
Thank God that He brought you here
Scratches, scrapes and bruised up knees,
Asking Mommy to "kiss it please"
Hey Dad, I heard something under my bed,
Can you read it again? That book you just read?
The game will start in thirty minutes,
Dad is proud because his son is in it
Mom's still worried about scrapes and scratches,
But yells 'hoorah!' with every ball he catches
There's a special glow about a mom and a dad,
It's there as they raise their child
Being there through the good and bad;
Loving them all the while
Hey Dad can you fix my tie?
Oh come on
Mom, please don't cry.
You two have always been there,
just like your here today,
Standing right beside me,
Watching her father give her away
